Bali is the most popular island in the world




A renowned German travel Start-up, Tourlane released a research result that one of them set Bali as the world's most popular island. The research was released on 8 April 2020.

The assignment uses the search method of the number of fencing marks on Instagram.

During several research periods, the results showed that Bali Island became the most sought-after destination with the number of hashtags reaching 60.4733.066.

The number surpassed the island of Ibiza, Spain, in its second rank with the 16,320,328 hashtag, and the island of Sicily, Italy, ranked third by the number of 12,974,059 hashtags.

Responding to that, the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia Wishnutama Kusubandio welcomes the set of Bali as the most popular island in the world today.

He said the designation is increasingly motivating Indonesia to grow the new Bali-Bali. In addition to improving Bali tourism to be more friendly and sustainable.


"The power of tradition and culture in Bali is undoubtedly a reason for tourists to come in addition to its natural beauty. Then no wonder, Bali is very popular in the world, "said Mr. Wishnutama

Mr. Wishnutama also explained, the popularity of Bali in demand by tourists is also a homework.

Especially after the COVID-19 pandemic, travel trends will change more towards tourism that focuses on the health and comfort of tourists.

"We and the people of Bali continue to collaborate to deal with new travel trends, including the problem of waste handling, sanitation, hygiene, and comfort," said Mr. Wishnutama.

The determination of Bali as the most popular destination in the world is not the first time.

Previously, the island of the gods ranked among the top 24 cities worldwide as the world's best destinations for the 2017 version of the most popular travel review site, Tripadvisor.

In addition, several international sites and associations have also crowned Bali as the best Travel and Leisure, World Travel Awards, Conde Nast Traveler, and UNWTO Awards.
